Our landscape design team is headed by Darlene Dumaine, APLD. Darlene has a degree in Landscape Design and Horticulture from the University of Rhode Island, and worked for the prestigious Landscape Architecture Firm of Engle/GGP in NYC and for Johnson & Richter in Avon. She began to work independently in 1992 as Darlene Dumaine Landscape & Garden Design. Her work can be seen throughout Glastonbury & surrounding towns, and is well known for its unique style, four-seasons of interest and expanding beauty year after year. Darlene has been featured in the Hartford Courant, the Glastonbury Citizen, Glastonbury Life, and People, Places & Plants magazine. Darlene currently is the only certified member of the Association of Professional Landscape Designers, (APLD®), east of the river in Connecticut. “APLD® certification program provides professional recognition to landscape designers, based on established standards of excellence.”

Our senior designer, Katie Shipman has 22 years experience in the landscaping field. She has a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Design from University of Connecticut. Prior to her arrival at B&B Landscaping, she worked 18 years for Shipman Nursery, designing and installing residential landscapes. Katie has been an active volunteer with the Connecticut Horticultural Society for many years. She has designed and constructed award winning landscape displays for the Hartford Flower & Garden Show.

These credentials are, in essence, an insurance policy. By hiring a university-trained landscape designer with 22 years of experience, you ensure that your property will have a distinctive flare and will increase in beauty with maturation.
