Bryan Happ, Licensed Arborist

He has many years experience as a licensed Arborist and has taken the Arboriculture program, ArborMaster training and is a member of the CT Tree Protective Association. Bryan actively participates and judges several tree climbing competitions in New England. What is an arborist? Glastonbury ABC House Gets a Makeover
On November 17th, Glastonbury had its own “extreme makeover” at the A Better Chance House on New London Turnpike. This is phase one of a four phase project. Six individuals from the local company, B&B Landscaping & Design, volunteered their time and talent to revitalize the front entrance to the A Better Chance (ABC) House. Many of the materials used were generously donated by vendors who work with B&B. Old, uneven brick steps and rotted railroad ties were replaced with a beautiful blue stone step and brick walkway. Planting beds were reshaped and new plants and grasses replaced an accumulation of weeds and overgrown shrubs. The result is a warm and inviting entrance that is a major improvement and a lovely addition to the neighborhood. When asked how he liked the new look, one of the ABC scholars said “it’s beautiful!” The philosophy at the A Better Chance House is to provide these young men with an environment that they can be proud of and consider home. Of course, with that benefit comes responsibility, and the scholars have a demanding schedule of inside and outside maintenance chores. Mark Babineau, owner of B&B had this to say. “We wanted to do something special to give back to a community that has been very good to us, and when we started asking around to find the right project to take on, we heard about Glastonbury ABC from many people. This project allows us to not only give to Glastonbury, but to help Glastonbury give to a larger community, and we could not be happier or prouder to be associated with such a great cause. The outpouring of donations and contributions from our vendors has been gratifying and we hope that this project raises the awareness of this worthy cause throughout Glastonbury.” The Glastonbury Board Members, staff and students associated with A Better Chance are extremely grateful for the strong support of community organizations such as B&B Landscaping. Helping the Environment, One Property at a Time
Cecilia Calhoun, Designer and Manager with B & B Landscaping & Design, LLC of Glastonbury, CT, recently earned her Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accreditation (LEED AP). This accreditation is given by the United States Green Building Council as a means of promoting environmentally responsible and sustainable building and design. The USGBC is a nationally recognized non profit organization working to make green buildings available to everyone in our country within a generation. LEED certified professionals have passed a rigorous exam demonstrating a thorough understanding of green building requirements in support of sustainable architecture, efficient building technologies, and environmentally sound construction practices. Calhoun will continue to contribute this knowledge to B&B Landscaping & Design and their market leading position in environmentally responsible landscapes for the greater Hartford area.

B & B LANDSCAPING – ANOTHER ONE OF THE FRIENDS OF GLASTONBURY SPORTS
B&B Landscaping & Design, LLC, a member of The Yard Group, recently installed the new donor brick walkway at the Glastonbury High School Athletic Complex as part of the renovation of the track and installation of the new turf field. The walkway memorializes those individuals, businesses and families that purchased bricks from the Friends of Glastonbury Sports to fund the new turf field. The Yard Group Acquires Taschner Property Services
B&B Landscaping, a member of The Yard Group, recently announced the acquisition of Taschner Property Services. Established in 2000, Taschner Property Services is a Glastonbury based company that services both residential as well as commercial customers. “The depth and breadth of the The Yard Group's capabilities is what excited me most regarding this business combination.
